There are four basic types of hearing aids:
Hearing aids worn behind-the-ear (BTE),

In-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids,
In-the-canal (ITC) hearing aids
and Completely in the canal (CIC) hearing aids.

Digital hearing aids come in various of
the above types. Digitally programmable
hearing aids, which are different
from fully digital hearing aids in that
they're not equipped to process all
incoming sound digitally. Hearing aids
are not a standardized product; each
hearing aid has elements, including
the shell or earmold, that are
custom-made for the wearer.
